Billy Butler, known to many as the younger brother of the legendary "Ice Man" Jerry Butler, and to deep soul fans as a talented singer and guitarist, has died at age 69. Signing off for a final time he said: "Thank you so much. "And I've loved playing all the local acts - never ever forget, there is no better feeling for a singer or a band than to be driving along and hearing their song on the radio for the first time.Billy added: "In all fairness I probably have been expecting it. One thing is for sure, Billy Butler is out here living his best life.As a part of a team that consists "of his brothers-in-law and some guys they know from the local gym," Butler is known to hit a lot of home runs, as he self-reports that he "can hit the ball out of the park every time." As well as an outstanding contribution award from the BBC in 2010, just this year he was enrolled as a Citizen of Honour of Liverpool; the highest accolade the city can bestow."And, of course, I was delighted to be named a Citizen of Honour last year."Apart from the success of Hold Your Plums, Billy said of his career highlights: "I've loved all the live shows we have done - selling out the Empire and selling out a season at the New Brighton Floral Pavilion. Billy Butler was an All-Star and Silver Slugger for the Kansas City Royals back in 2012, but after his talent started to fade out by 2016, he decided to call it quits and go back home to Idaho.
